1. MERGING OF SCCP, PACO & GCP WITH PIDC.

• To consolidate and improve the management of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs)
  State Cement Corporation of Pakistan, Pakistan Automobile Corporation and Ghee
  Corporation of Pakistan have been merged with PIDC.
  
  2. SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRES (SDCS) IN NORTHERN AREAS

• Eight Skill Development Centres (SDCs) are being set up by PIDC in the earthquake
  affected areas of Muzaffarabad , Bagh , Balakot , and Batgram at a capital cost of
  Rs.200 million.

• The land for the Skill Development Centers will be provided by Government of NWFP
  and Azad Kashmir while the capital expenditure will be incurred by PIDC.

• These SDCs will provide training in the trades of furniture making , construction skills
  and hospitality/tourism and other related technical fields as a part of efforts for the
  poverty reduction and reconstruction activities in the areas of the country ravaged
  by October 8 , 2005 earthquake.
  
  3. MALAKAND UNIVERSITY , CHAKDARA , DIST .DIR.
  
  

• The Malakand University set up as a joint venture by PIDC with the Government of NWFP
  at the premises of Dir Forest Industries Complex, Chakdara which was a unit of PIDC.

• It is facilitating the students of the surrounding areas to have educational facilities for
  Postgraduate studies near their homes.

• It has residential and other facilities for the faculty as well as hostels to accommodate
